A certified translation of a birth or marriage certificate is produced by a permanent court interpreter and confirmed with a seal and signature. Foreign institutions, embassies and residence or marriage authorities commonly request it. Email a scan of the certificate and you receive a free quote with the deadline.
Which documents do I translate?
- birth certificates and birth register extracts;
- marriage certificates and marriage register extracts;
- death register extracts;
- certificates of citizenship;
- certificates of no criminal record;
- residence and family certificates.
When do you need the translation?
- marriage abroad or registering a marriage abroad;
- residence, work or citizenship applications;
- inheritance and property proceedings;
- school or nursery enrolment abroad.
Is a translation needed within the EU?
For many public documents within the EU an apostille is no longer required, and for some civil-status extracts multilingual forms exist. Check with the receiving institution whether a translation is needed at all and in what form. If it is, I am happy to prepare it.
What should I send?
Send a scan or photo of the extract, front and back if applicable. For a certified translation I need the original or a certified copy. I write names as in the original; if your passport spells them differently, let me know.
