FAQ

Have a question?

If you don’t find the answer here, call or send an email.

What is a certified translation in Croatia?

A certified translation is a translation that a permanent court interpreter (sworn translator) confirms with a seal and signature as identical to the original. Courts, registry offices, universities, public authorities and foreign institutions usually require it.

What is the difference between a certified and a standard translation?

A certified translation carries the court interpreter's seal and signature and is accepted by official bodies - for example for a birth certificate, diploma or contract. A standard translation has no official certification and suits websites, correspondence, presentations and catalogues.

How is the price calculated?

The price is calculated per page of translation (kartica): one page equals 1,500 characters including spaces. I state the number of pages and the total price in advance, in a free quote.

How much does a certified translation cost?

The total depends on the number of pages (1,500 characters including spaces) and the type of document, and the price per page is shown in the price list on this page. For an exact figure, email a scan or photo of your document to tenafistonic@gmail.com - you receive a free, no-obligation quote with price and deadline.

How long does a translation take?

The deadline depends on the length and complexity of the document. It is always stated in the quote before you confirm the order. If you need the translation urgently, say so in your enquiry.

Do I need to send the original document?

A scan or photo is enough for a quote. For a certified translation, the original or a certified copy is needed, because the interpreter certifies that the translation matches the document presented to them.

Do I have to come in person?

Not for a quote - you can send the document by email or through the contact form. How you receive the certified translation (in person in Središće, Zagreb, or another agreed way) is arranged with the quote.

Do I need an apostille with the translation?

For use in some countries, an apostille or legalisation may be required in addition to the translation. The requirements are set by the institution receiving the document, so check them before ordering - I am happy to suggest what to ask.

Do you translate into languages other than English?

My working language is English: I translate from English into Croatian and from Croatian into English. For other languages, I can refer you to fellow court interpreters.

Do you translate technical and construction documents?

Yes. As a Master of Civil Engineering with professional exams in spatial planning and construction, I translate designs, technical descriptions, standards, bills of quantities and tender documentation using accurate technical terminology.

Are my documents kept confidential?

Yes. I use the documents you entrust to me only to prepare your translation and do not share them unnecessarily. How personal data is handled is described in the privacy policy.

Where are you located and when are you available?

My office is at Ivana Šibla 20, Središće, Zagreb, Croatia. I am available Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 18:00 (Central European Time), and you can email documents at any time.
